An ingenious experiment in thinking outside the box is afoot in Hayward California in an area of a neighborhood infamous for speedsters. Signs aimed at both drivers and pedestrians have made national news for their quirky snarkiness. Goal: to wake people up from their stupor and distraction and change in-grained human behavior.
I can’t even imagine the knock-down drag-out arguments that must have ensued behind closed doors between the stakeholders that were on board with thinking WAAAAY outside the box and those of a more conservative ilk, including the legal team that must have been involved.
Let this be a lesson: If a town can re-imagine official road signs in such a fresh and tongue-in-cheek manner, then the rest of us can take our websites, our printed matter, our customer communications to the next level too with even greater ease.
