Audience, message (what you want to tell them), call to action (what you want them to do)
These three components form the framework for nearly all web pages and types of websites. Could be corporate websites, retail sites, ecommerce sites, informational sites, blogs, sales letters, landing pages, squeeze pages, transactional pages. The terms may be slightly modified, such as “target audience/target market,” “pitch/copy/content,” or “cta/action message.” But this is the magic formula.
But the real secret to this lives a level deeper:
- Knowing the audience
- Knowing what makes them purr (message)
- Identifying their “pain” and relieving it (CTA).
